KERN translates over 500,000 standard pages in over 100 language combinations every year. We cover a wide range of subject areas, from technical documents, such as technical instructions, data sheets, training information for corporate communication e.g. staff bulletins, work schedules, company correspondence, press releases and company reports as well as brochures and customer magazines right through to legal texts and documents such as contracts, briefs and business registration certificates; thereby covering every specialist area.

Our translation team is highly qualified and very experienced and as a general rule they have the following academic and professional background:

Education and Qualification

• Translation graduate with a university degree in foreign languages, over 4 to 5 years.
• Linguists with a BA Honours or MA qualification in one or two foreign languages, over 4 to 5 years. 
• State-approved translator (state examination, 2-3 years)

Practical Experience

• At least 4 years of translation experience
• Specialisation in one or more fields of expertise (e.g. economics, technology, law, etc.) A list of subject fields is available here: Specialist Fields
• Some translators are licensed by a court of law and are able to certify translations
• Further training in the use of translation software and tools
